Parrot Rescue...

Sometimes the challenge of owning a parrot exceeds the limitations of some companion environments and many owners realise that managing the behaviour, dependencies and general care of a parrot as a pet too great for their circumstances. In many cases, new homes can be found for parrots that can no longer be cared for by their owner. In some circumstances, particularly where behavioural challenges are prominent, successful re-homing can be difficult to achieve. It’s at this point that the `Parrot Rescue Centre’ helps to fill the void.

Dedicated parrot enthusiasts Zarita Garozzo and her partner Jamie Carpenter established the Parrot Rescue Centre in 2003. After many years of developing a deep level of understanding about the feeding, nutrition, housing and behaviour training of parrots, Jamie & Zarita decided to focus on using their acquired knowledge to improve the lives of parrots in need of dedicated care in Australia. They have sought to achieve this by providing an environment that caters for the individual needs of the parrots they take in. A professional approach to the formation of the PRC was taken from day one and a set of goals formulated to ensure that the PRC focus was built on a foundation of service to parrot welfare and community education.

At present, the PRC is stretched to the limit and in need of your help in the capacity of foster carers, donations of food, parrot safe toys, large cages, aviaries or aviary materials and monetary donations to help cover vet costs and maintenance of the PRC Sanctuary. Through your support you will be directly helping the PRC maintain their high standard of sanctuary care and continue their education initiatives into the future.

If you feel that you could make a positive contribution to the lives of the parrots supported by Parrot Rescue Centre either through volunteer assistance onsite, making a small financial contribution, donating items such as those listed above or making a purchase through their online shop then please get in contact with Zarita and Jamie via their website www.parrotrescuecentre.com or Phone- 075569 2840.
